Cure for Type 2 Diabetes

Patient Selection
This surgical procedure is best suited for persons with Type 2 Diabetes, with 3 to 25 years on oral drugs and or insulin. There should be no major health problems like heart disease, chronic pancreatitis or renal failure.

To check if you can be considered for this surgery:
First Step - Contact our Health Checkup Department at 97484 99977 for appointment and undergo following test after 8 hours fasting.

C-Peptide : Fasting & 1 Hour After Breakfast
Se. Insulin : Fasting
HbAlc
Blood Sugar : Fasting & PP

Our Package (Subsidised) rate is Rs.1900/-

C-peptide level of more than 1 indicates you have enough body insulin and pancreatic function. Only then you can be considered for diabetic surgery.

Second Step - A clinical (physical) exam will be done, followed by an exhaustive list of investigations and anesthesia fitness. This will indicate whether you can be taken up for diabetic surgery, if everything is suitable, then:

Third Step - Admission into hospital 1 or 2 days before surgery, according to anesthetist's advice. Liquid diet for 2 days before the operation.

About the Surgical Procedure
This surgery is done on the intestinal tract, not the pancreas. The operation is done by key-hole surgery, practically bloodless. It uses modern state-of-the-art stapling devices and blood vessel self-sealing device. Post-operative care needs about 4-5 days of stay in the hospital for observation, especially to treat dropping blood sugar levels.

This operation can cure diabetes, arrest body organ deterioration and thus avoid future diabetic complications. High blood pressure as well as high cholesterol and triglycerides are also cured, and the body loses excess weight. These changes lead to overall longevity with good health.

The switch operation causes a surge in the body's insulin soon after taking food, and thus controls postprandial sugar. It increases the insulin sensitivity of target cells, so that fasting sugar levels dependent on liver are better controlled. Also, the progressive destruction of insulin-secreting B-cells in pancreas is arrested. In this manner, the operation controls sugar in the most "physiologically natural way", enhancing the effect of body insulin.

Complications of diabetes will be arrested unless the organ damage has already progressed to a point of no return.

Surgical Procedure
Ideal interposition with Gastroplasty

  • Continuity of the bowel is re-established with intestinal staplers

  • No loss of length of diversion of the digestive tract

Long Term Complications of Diabetes
Type 2 diabetes can be a lifelong conditions. It is an increasingly widespread health issue in India and has serious long-term consequences. You may want to compare this surgery's high resolution rates for type 2 diabetes to the term effects of the condition.

Diabetes is the cause of cardiac problems and kidney failure in many patients. It is a killer disease with epidemic proportions in Asia and especially in India. The disease keeps on progressing in most people with on going complications in many organs in the body. It is associated with high cholesterol levels, high blood pressure, fatty liver disease, obesity and polycystic ovary disease causing the metabolic syndrome.

Type 2 Diabetics are at risk for developing:

  • Heart disease or stroke

  • Kidney disease and eventually kidney failure, which may require either a kidney transplant or dialysis

  • Nerve damage which can lead to digestive and bladder problems, sexual dysfunction and numbness and tingling in the legs.

  • Foot problems including ulcers and poor circulation, which can lead to amputation.

  • Eye complications such as glaucoma, cataracts and nerve damage, which can lead to blindness.
